35th STREET METRA STATION - METRA
Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) as a subconsultant to Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, LLP is providing METRA with electrical and lighting engineering services. SINGH is responsible for the lighting and power design for the new 35th Street platform. The scope includes lighting the new platforms, entrances, warming shelters and the boiler room. In addition, SINGH selected and provided power for the infrared heaters in the warming shelters at each platform. SINGH is also involved in the placement of the V.O.M. (Voice of METRA) system, including loud speakers, conduits and the V.O.M. cabinet.

FRANCIS CABRINI ROW HOUSES - CHA
Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) is providing HVAC, electrical and plumbing services for the preparation of the schematic phase, design development, and construction documents for the Francis Cabrini Houses in Chicago. The project consists of complete renovation of 586 row house dwellings including gas heating system, ductwork and electrical controls, water supply, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, sewage removal, kitchen appliances, CATV, telephone, room lighting and receptacles. Improvements will consist of fire alarms and kitchen and bathroom exhaust fans. This work is to be done in conjunction with architectural refurbishment of building exteriors, roadway lighting and area utility upgrades to bring the site up to current construction standards. Design objectives are being jointly developed between the local area resident association at the Francis Cabrini site and the consultants to provide renovations that meet the requirements of the community.

FRANCIS CABRINI ROW HOUSES EXTENSION - CHA
As a sub-consultant to Holabird & Root, LLC Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) is responsible for the heating system design and the electrical design for the heating equipment. The project consists of the design of two new boiler systems to supply heat and domestic hot water for buildings 1, 2 and 10. All of these buildings are active because of the boiler plant in building 6. The first new boiler system will feed buildings 1 and 2, and the second boiler system will feed building 10. SINGH’s scope involves the calculation of the size of water and gas piping that is required to feed the new boiler systems. SINGH is also responsible for the coordination of new /modified gas and water services with the utility companies and the evaluation of the size of the electrical service to verify adequacy for feeding the new boiler systems.

FERNWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - CPS
The Fernwood Elementary School capital improvement project for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) consisted of masonry renovation, window and roof replacement and parking lot improvements. SINGH as a subconsultant to J + W & Associates, Inc. was responsible for the civil engineering part of the project, including site plans, related detail drawings and specifications. The scope of work included design of new a parking lot, refuse area, retaining wall, sidewalks and driveways and reconstruction of an existing playground area. The design had to adhere to the City of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools design standards and requirements.

CHICAGO FIRE STATION #18 - PBCC
Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) is providing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection services for verifying prototype drawings for Fire Station 18. Fire Station 18 is the oldest fire station among the 113 fire stations in Chicago. It was originally built in 1873. The City in an effort to move past reactive repair and instead build for the future has identified and planned for 10 new fire stations. Among them is Fire Station 18. The Public Building Commission of Chicago and the City of Chicago have developed a prototype design for the Station, which will be approximately 14,300 square feet on a single floor with a circular driveway. SINGH is responsible for verifying mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and communications systems detailed on the prototype plans and specifications. SINGH is also preparing site specific plans and specifications while coordinating the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The City wanted to insure the building received a Silver LEED rating. SINGH will also be providing Construction Administration services.

PLAZA 51/I88 - ISTHA
Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) provided MEP Engineering services to the Toll Authority as a subconsultant to HDR, Inc. Singh’s scope included redesign of the 50-year-old Plaza Building’s Electrical and Mechanical system. Also, new toll lanes and booths were constructed, along with an underground annex structure with new restrooms and janitor closet. Unlike many similar projects, the tunnel under the roadway needed to be retained and renovated. Abandoned mechanical and electrical equipment was removed and new lighting provided. There was also the conversion of CCTV cameras to wireless type, and relocation of a Dynamic Message Sign. A lot of temporary work was done as part of this project, including relocation of building operations to a temporary trailer, temporary toll booths, and the relocation of Open Road Tolling cabinets during construction. Maintenance of Traffic was critical to this project as it is a very busy plaza. Work involved switching between Manual and I-Pass Only lanes at the Plaza for Maintenance of Traffic.
