& STORM WATER
ORT Design for Plazas 1, 5 & 7 for ISTHA
SINGH provided Civil Engineering services to the Tollway Authority as a subconsultant to HDR Engineering Inc. This project includes the construction of three toll plazas in Winnebago, Boone and McHenry Counties respectively. Plaza 1 design was distinctive from other plazas as it was a completely new building located out in the country away from the municipal utility services. From the civil design perspective this required designing two separate septic systems for the main and annex buildings as well as providing water well supply system to both buildings. Construction cost $100M.

North South Tollway (I-355) for ISHTA
SINGH provided Civil Engineering services to the Tollway Authority as a subconsultant to IE Consultants, Inc. SINGH prepared plans, estimates and specifications for the drainage and erosion control of the North South Tollway from Mile Post 5.57 to Mile Post 8.03. The project also included construction of cross roads and interchanges at 151st Street, 143rd Street, and IL 171 (Archer Avenue). Construction cost $100M.

US 20 Rohlwing Road to Addison
Road, Civil Engineering
DuPage County, Illinois
This project for the Illinois Department
of Transportation consisted of reconstruction of
US Route 20, new drainage system and traffic signal
modernization. SINGH was responsible for preparation
of drainage and erosion control plans, specifications
and quantity estimates for 2 miles of US 20 (Lake
St.) between Rohlwing Rd. and Addison Rd. The work
included design of 400 new storm drain inlets, five
release control structures and adjustment of existing
utility structures. Majority of the proposed storm
sewers will be of watermain quality due to the large
amount of water pipes located in the area. The layout
of the new drainage system is also obstructed by
the location of many different types of underground
utilities. The total construction cost for this
project is $12M.

IL 53, Elgin-O’Hare
to Army Trail Road, Civil Engineering
DuPage County, Illinois
SINGH provided civil engineering services
for the IL 53, Elgin-O’Hare to Army Trail
Road. The entire project included pavement reconstruction
and widening from one lane to two lanes in each
direction. SINGH was responsible for preparation
of location drainage study of four miles of the
IL Rt. 53 (Rohlwing Rd.) between Army Trial Rd.
and Elgin O’Hare Expressway. The scope of
work was hydraulic and hydrologic analysis of the
existing 10 culverts and 7 detention ponds. It also
included Spring Brook floodway and floodplain encroachment
calculations and preliminary cost estimates. The
proposed drainage improvement included new storm
sewer system design and detention storage calculations
for 12 watersheds and 13 release control structure
designs. The total construction cost for this project
was $25M.

Iowa 100, Civil Engineering
This Iowa Department of Transportation
project consists of extending the existing highway
and constructing a new highway in Linn County. SINGH
is providing civil engineering services for the
hydraulic and hydrologic design and TS&L plan
preparation for 3 new culverts under the Iowa 100
highway extension. The first 10.0’x6.0’
RCB culvert is located in the E Avenue interchange
area. The existing drainage swale will be rerouted
to follow the ditches on the east side of the E
Avenue interchange ramps. The second 8.0’x6.0’
RCB culvert is a mainline Iowa 100 cross drainage
structure. The third triple 12.0’x6.0’
RCB culvert will be located at Ushers Ferry Creek’s
crossing of the mainline. Total construction cost
for this project is $40M.
