The Mayor of the City of Chicago, Richard M. Daley has a vision to make our existing river walk easily accessed and accessible to people with disabilities, making it easier to navigate to and from the lake shore into the loop area. He wishes to make the new river walk a must-see tourist attraction for all the visitors and Chicagoans alike. The intended scope is to build pedestrian under-bridges that will span the length of the Michigan Ave and Wabash Ave. bridges.

Michigan Ave. under-bridge will be 14-foot-wide and will be covered by stainless steel canopies in order to protect pedestrians from any on coming debris. A decorative railing will run along the border of the river walk to protect pedestrians from falling into the river.

As a sub-consultant to Collins Engineers, Inc., Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) provided professional lighting and design engineering services for the River Walk along the pedestrian walkway from Michigan Avenue to State Street. One of the challenges that SINGH encountered on this project was to meet BOE and IES criteria while providing a pleasing aesthetic for the river walk.

Singh & Associates, Inc. (SINGH) provided design engineering services for: Pedestrian and decorative/architectural lighting for river walk
Security concerns for pedestrians, LED handrail system integrated into existing stone stairway, Relocation of shore power, Existing navigation lighting system modified, Unique lighting system for under bridge canopy
