SINGH was selected to provide aesthetic lighting design for the sixteen (16) foot-wide standalone multi-use trail soaring over the Chicago River. The Addison Underbridge section will provide a connection between Clark Park at the south end and California and Horner Parks to the north. The trail will pass underneath the Addison Street Bridge and cross the Chicago River on an elevated curved structure.

SINGH’s scope of work included an investigation of various lighting designs using high bright white LED light fixtures to provide visual impact without sacrificing public safety. SINGH provided Final PS+E utilizing linear LED light fixtures mounted to the path railing to brighten the concrete path and provide ambient lighting. Special provisions for electrical and lighting design were made should the path under the Addison Bridge be submerged in the event of flooding. Additionally, SINGH provided decorative pole mounted LED lighting for Chicago Park District park areas adjacent to the North Riverfront Trail. The LED light fixture selection, mounting, and electrical design was closely coordinated with the City of Chicago and the Architect. Provisions were made to make light fixtures vandal proof.
