Job Description
Under the direction of the project manager, responsibilities are focused on the design and delivery of a variety of roadway transportation projects. This position will require a self-starter that can independently provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Qualified candidates will have a strong, proven background in roadway/highway design. The Transportation Project Engineer must be able to deliver multiple projects while meeting deadlines and adhering to budgetary constraints. Some regional travel may be required.
Tasks
- Executes required aspects of roadway engineering based on a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and some advanced concepts.
- Coordinates a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects and tasks.
- Coordinates and reviews the work of the project team comprised of engineers, technicians, and subconsultants.
- Assist project manager with technical and management collaboration.
- Collaborate with project manager for project progress and status reports, schedule, and budget.
- Tracks the progress of deliverables, client reviews, technical input, and comment resolution.
- Assist project manager with scope and fee for projects.
Skills + Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university is mandatory
- 5+ years of transportation design experience
- Design experience with Illinois Department of Transportation is preferred.
- Professional Engineer License in IL is mandatory with the ability to submit for reciprocity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Skilled with CAD/Design Software (MicroStation SS10, GeoPak, ORD)
- Microsoft Office Suite
