Lakefront Trail | One Phase Down, Two to Go!

SINGH PROJECT HIGHLIGHT

Navy Pier Flyover bridge under Construction

The Chicago Department of Transportation recently opened the first leg of the Lakefront Trail that will ultimately stretch from the Chicago River to Jane Addams Park.  The Lakefront Trail (also known as the Navy Pier Flyover) is an elevated path that will provide a dedicated, grade-separated trail section to provide safer walking and biking.  This new trail will provide a safer and scenic alternative for pedestrians and cyclists particularly at clogged intersections along the Lakefront Trail. The pathway contains stairs and ground-level entry and exit points for easy access. As a subconsultant to the TYLIN International led construction management team, SINGH provided construction inspection services for the north segment of the lakefront trail from Ohio Street Beach to north of the Ogden Slip. SINGH’s responsibilities included construction inspection and documentation for the construction of the steel bridge structure.  SINGH continues to work on the second leg of the trail which is slated for completion by the end of 2019.
